Brrrr! It's cold outside!

Dear Parents,

There's lots of learning going on in Third Grade! Last week, we were Ecologists for a day, multiplied 2 digits by 1 digit, worked on a book study, and this week we will start writing about a memorable first. So proud of our 3rd graders. They are almost ready for 4th Grade!

SAVE THE DATES:  We have so many memorable activities planned for the end of the year!  Third grade has a tradition of ending the school year with a camping unit. The objectives will include students researching a Texas state park and planning an imaginary camping trip to that park, but we will do much more than that. This unit will involve all content areas: Reading, Writing, Math, Social Studies, and Science.  Below is a list of days when we will need parent volunteers so you can start planning ahead. Thank you!

May 18th: Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Field Trip. All parents are welcomed to attend and/or volunteer to be a chaperone. Information/forms will go home in May regarding this field trip.

May 21: “Fishing Day” at Trailhead Park from 8:30-11:00.
All activities are planned. Each class will need 3 parents to help at the stations. Signup info will be sent out in the next few weeks.

May 23: Campout Day
Parent chaperones are not needed, but each class will need four tents pitched outside CCE. Please let me know if you have a tent that we could borrow, and are willing to put it up that morning before school.

I truly appreciate all your support!

Gratefully,
Mrs. McDonald

Dear Parents,

Happy Birthday to Sherise (3-28) and Siya (3-30)!

The third grade annual Expo was a smashing success! Our profit was approximately an astounding $1,604.68.  The Expo was so much fun, and it was exciting to see the children sell their fabulous products. Third graders learned about economics through this unit, and we can definitely see some future entrepreneurs. We truly appreciate the support you extended while helping your child make their products, and the time you took out of your busy schedules to bake. Of course, your purchases of fine merchandise and yummy baked goods were the reason we were able to surpass our goal. We know The Nature Conservancy will be thrilled with our donation. Thank you!

Gratefully,
Mrs. McDonald
