Mrs. McDonald's 3rd Grade Class

Sunday, February 24, 2019

Dear Parents,

Thank you to Student Council for organizing “Twin Day”.  It was fun seeing friends dress like each other. Pictures of “Twin Day” are located on the CCE Newsletter.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, our third grade students will take the STAAR Ready test.  This STAAR practice test will identify the areas of strength and improvement for each student. Please make certain your child is prepared by following routines, getting a good night’s rest and eating a healthy breakfast!  Students will need a snack or two (no greasy, sticky or wet snacks), a sealable water bottle, and a great book to read.

Wednesday, March 13th third grade students will go on an art field trip to the Blanton and Umlauf art galleries. Please turn in your child’s permission slip to school by this Friday. Don't forget to fill out both sides of the form and return it with the $2.00 fee.  We also encourage as many parents to chaperone as possible. Parents, however, must provide their own transportation (carpooling with other parents is a possibility) and a sack lunch.  Also, a small fee may be required at the Blanton.  If you are interested in accompanying us, let me know at your earliest convenience so that I can plan our groups and make preparations for our fun filled field trip. Thank you to those who have already volunteered!

Please continue to encourage your child to complete the Library reading program. Our class goal is to have 100% participation. Forms are due Thursday, February 28th.

Gratefully,
Mrs. McDonald

Happy Valentine's Day!

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to London for being our marvelous MVP!  We enjoyed learning more about our special classmate when she shared her banner with us on Monday!

Our Valentine’s class list was sent home a couple of weeks ago. I hope your children have been thinking of a creative way to decorate their box/bag. If your child hasn’t started on his/her box/bag, now is the time! Boxes are due in class on Wednesday, February 13th. Valentine cards may be brought to school starting on that same date. Please be sure your child prepares a Valentine card for every student in the class. Since Valentine's Day is a party day, your child may attach a small piece of candy or treat to their Valentine cards.

Our Valentine’s Day party is Thursday, February 14, from 2:00-2:45. If you are planning on attending or volunteering for your child’s Valentine Party, please complete this form. Sign up here. We will preprint your badge to expedite your check-in!  As a reminder, class parties are for parents, grandparents, and students. Please make plans for little ones, since there will be no child care provided for this party. Thank you!

Thank you for your continued support!

Enjoying your children,
Mrs. McDonald
