Dear Parents,

A big thank you to all our wonderful parents who provided the delicious feast on Friday! It was definitely yummy!

Seeing the wonderful turn out on Tuesday’s Create Peace Night was so amazing! The children had a fantastic art experience and enjoyed their time with you and their friends.

Congratulations to Siya for being our MVP this week! We enjoyed learning more about our special classmate when she shared her banner with us on Monday!

The next great school-wide event was launched this week - the library Saddle Up and Read program and Bluebonnet Book program.  Details are online and the form was in your child’s Tuesday folder.

Don’t forget our parent conferences start next week.  Email me or login to Sign-Up Genius if you need to reschedule.  I look forward to visiting with you about your child’s goals.

If you have not already, please send in a pair of inexpensive earbuds or headphones for your child to use with our computers and laptops.  They will need to stay at school for the duration of the year.

Finally, planners are your student’s best friend! Be sure to review planners and important dates in the newsletter.

Enjoying your children,
Mrs. McDonald

Dear Parents,

Great news from this week…we are officially at S.H.I.N.E. class!  That means we are Supportive, Helpful, Inclusive, Non-stop Encouragers!  I  am so proud of these kiddos for being such great students, friends, and role models.  Please stop by our classroom to check out the award certificate!

Many thanks for the donations to our Book Buck Library program! You have been extremely generous, and I truly appreciate it. I will be placing our Scholastic order soon, as I work to stock our Book Buck Library.

If you have not  signed up for a Fall Conference, please do so as soon as possible.  Fall conferences are a great time to learn more about how to help your child with reading, writing, spelling, and math.  In third grade, the conferences are parent-teacher conferences, so please make childcare arrangements for your 20-minute slot.  Your third grader will be providing input into the conference before the adults get together to talk about goals for your child. I look forward to our conferences!  Also, please don’t forget to turn in the conference form and MVP letter!

Finally, please send in with your child a pair of inexpensive earbuds or headphones. They will need these to do work on the laptops/chromebooks.  You child will keep these at school until the end of the year.

Thanks so much for everything you do!

Enjoying your children,
Mrs. McDonald

Dear Parents

What an amazing turn out for Back to School Night! I truly appreciate your support and I’m very excited to meet with you all during Fall Conference week.  A Sign-Up Genius will be going out soon for our fall conferences.  Most of my conferences will take place on October 9th. This is a student holiday, so I am holding them throughout the day.  Conferences are a great time to learn more about how to help your child with reading, writing, spelling, and math.  In third grade, the conferences are parent-teacher conferences, so please make childcare arrangements for your 20-minute slot.

Tuesday evening, you received a conference goal sheet to complete.  Once I have received your completed form, I will fill in the “T” (teacher) sections.  Please note that the “Goals” section will be finished during our conference time. Please return your completed conference form, the MVP letter, and the Book Buck Library contributions to me by Tuesday, September 26th.  If you were unable to attend the Back to School Night, your child’s forms will be in this week’s Tuesday folder.  Let me know if you have questions about any of these forms.

I forgot to mention in the last blog post that our class won the Golden Spatula Award last week! This award is given out to classes who have good manners in the lunchroom.  We have the award certificate and “golden spatula” spirit stick hanging outside our classroom door.  I am so proud of these kiddos!

Finally, thanks so much for all the Box Top labels that have already been turned in.  The annual Box Top contest runs through October 6 and the competition is FIERCE!!  The top 5 classes who turn in the most Box Top labels receive some awesome prizes.  Also, don’t forget HEB runs a promotion (Sept. 6 - 19) in whereby if you purchase 10 Box Top items you receive 60 bonus Box Tops and if you purchase 15 Box Top items you receive 100 bonus Box Tops.  You can find a list of participating products here: http://www.boxtops4education.com/earn/ participating-products.  If nothing else, you could stock up on your Green Giant canned veggies and earn a certificate pretty cheaply.  HEB also currently has an in-store coupon (valid until Sept 19th) for certain Green Giant canned vegetables. Just a thought! :)

Thanks so much for all of your support and enjoy your week!

Warmly,
Mrs. McDonald

Dear Parents,

I have been enjoying my time with your children. I’ve learn so much about them and their personalities over the past few weeks.  I am looking forward to seeing you all at Back to School Night this coming Tuesday.

Friday was the last day to donate to the Toiletry Drive to collect items for those families impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Thank you for any items you were able to give! I continue to be amazed at the generosity and selflessness of this community. Let’s keep Florida in our thoughts this weekend.

Please click on the Weekly Newsletter link above for important dates and 3rd grade information. Communication is key for a successful year! Thank you!

Also, thank you all for helping your child with his/her MVP pennant. They all look amazing!

Gratefully,

Mrs. McDonald
