It's Summer Time!!

Dear Parents,

We had such a wonderful week last week, full of adventure and fun! Thank you for all of your hard work to make the events special and festive. Also, thank you for the thoughtful gifts, heart warming cards, and all the hugs! Our End-of-the-Year party was definitely a joyful celebration.

There have been many questions regarding our make-up day Tuesday, May 29. Students must be present at 9:00 am to be counted as here. Report cards will go home at the end of the day. If not present, report cards will be kept in the front office for pick-up.

STAAR results will be available online hopefully mid-June. Parents will be notified by the district when scores are released along with directions on how to access your child's code to get the results online. It is important to keep this code as it will be used each year your child takes STAAR.

One more day of school, so let the summer fun begin! Thank you for helping to make this a stellar year. Together we learned, laughed, and truly enjoyed being with each other. Our class family is one to treasure for years to come.

Have a wonderful summer with lots of exciting family time.  Chill out together with a good book, and relax the days away.  I know I will miss the smiling faces, loving hugs, and kind hearts of all of my students.  Next year, please stop by to say hello!

Thanks so much for everything!

Fondly,
Mrs. McDonald

A Camping We Will Go!

Dear Parents,

Thank you to Laura Covin-Paloma and Susan Hennessy for being awesome chaperones on our fun field trip to Lady Bird Wildflower Center. We enjoyed seeing the beautiful flowers blooming and butterflies fluttering. We had a GREAT time!

Fishing and Camping Volunteers: Please let me know if you have any questions after reading the information that was sent home with your kiddo this week regarding Fishing Stations and Tent set up locations. I really appreciate your support, and look forward to spending some time outdoors, learning more about nature and camping with my class.

The third grade students and teachers are excited for our Third Grade Showcase on Wednesday, May 23rd from 7:20-7:40. Your favorite third grader will be ready to show you some of the great work that he/she has been doing this year! Please come to cheer your child's hard work and show your appreciation for all he/she has learned in Third Grade.

Our end of year class party will be held on Friday, May 25, from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Our third grade room moms have a fun filled party planned! I hope you can join us to celebrate the end of our third grade year together.

Childcare will not be provided for End of the Year Parties.  We respectfully ask that younger siblings do not attend these parties.  If you plan on attending the party please complete this form so your badge can be preprinted for you. As always, thank you for making your own arrangements for childcare.

Many thanks to Farah Merhebi and Abby Sanchez, our room moms, for all they have done to make this a memorable year for us! They did an amazing job planning wonderful parties for the kids!  Also, a huge thank you, Parents, for your generous support throughout this year. I truly appreciate all you have done for me and our class.

Gratefully,
Mrs. McDonald

Happy Mother's Day!

Dear Parents,

Happy Birthday to Sai (last Monday)!

It has been said that, “Mothers hold their children’s hands for a while, but their hearts forever.” May your Mother’s Day be filled with love and appreciation for all that you do! Wishing you a lovely day!

The days are flying by as we head into summer.  Our last two testing days are Monday and Tuesday.  We will celebrate a year of hard work on Wednesday, May 23rd with an End of Year Showcase from 7:20 am-7:40 am This is your child’s opportunity to share his/her accomplishments as we near the end of third grade. Please make plans to stop by and see what your child has created and learned this year! So proud of our future fourth graders! It has been a GREAT year!

STAAR Testing Reminders:
Students will be taking the Math & Reading STAAR tests on Monday, May 14th and Tuesday, May 15th. Please remember that your children will perform best if they have a good night’s sleep, eat a hearty breakfast, and arrive on time to school. Things to think about:
*Your children are well-prepared for this test.  If they sense anxiety from you they will have it too!
*Lunch visits are discouraged on testing days due to the unpredictable testing schedule.
*If you are unable to provide your child with a healthy breakfast, the CCE cafeteria will do it for you for FREE.
*We are providing snacks for both days. Your child may bring additional dry, healthy snacks.  Please avoid candy, cookies, or snacks that leave fingers greasy or cheesy.

On Friday, May 18th, we will be taking our field trip to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Your child should wear his/her CCE t-shirt and bring a completely disposable lunch including a drink and snack. We are looking forward to spending the day admiring the beautiful landscape at Lady Bird. It is going to be a fun-filled day!

Thank you to the First Grade parents for providing a delicious brunch for the CCE staff. Friday Feast is definitely a favorite!

Happy Mother’s Day,
Mrs. McDonald

Dear Parents,

It's hard to believe that this year is quickly coming to a close!  We will be working hard to finish up some end of year assessments, as well as, projects to share with you at our upcoming Third Grade Showcase on Wednesday morning, May 23rd from 7:20-7:40am. Your favorite third grader will be ready to show you some of the great work that he/she has been doing this year! We look forward to seeing you there!

While you are and about, please grab HEB, REI, Walmart, Target, Academy etc. fliers.  We will need to make budgets for our “camping needs” and will use the prices in the fliers to do so.  You may send them in at any time! Thank you to those who have already sent fliers to school. Thank you!
