Happy Groundhog Day!

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to Shreya for being our marvelous MVP of the Week! We enjoyed learning more about our special classmate when she shared her banner with us on Monday!

Happy Birthday to Titan on Thursday!

Congratulations to our UIL participants! I am so proud of all their hard work.  The following students placed in their events.
Spelling--Varun 1st place, Sanmita 3rd place
Ready Writing--London 4th place, Shreya 5th place

Valentines and decorated boxes/bags can be brought to school starting Wednesday, February 13th. When filling out Valentine cards, please make sure your child includes everyone in his/her class. I look forward to celebrating friendship with the kiddos and hope to see you all there!

Please continue to read my webpage each weekend with your child. This is the best way to stay informed on all that goes on in our classroom. It’s also important to check your child’s homework folder and planner DAILY for assignments and work not completed in class. Thank you for your support! I truly appreciate all that you do!

Enjoying your children,
Mrs. McDonald

LIBRARY READING PROGRAM
Six Flags Read to Succeed and Schlitterbahn Waterpark is taking place now. Students are eligible for one free admission ticket to both Theme Parks. Even if your child is not interested in going to the parks, he/she can still show support for the library and all it offers. Our class goal is for all students to complete the required hours of reading. Please complete the forms and return to school when your child has completed his/her reading logs. Congratulations to those who are close to reaching their reading goal!

VALENTINE'S DAY PARTY
Our Valentine’s Day party is Thursday, February 14, from 2:00-2:45. If you are planning on attending or volunteering for your child’s Valentine Party, please complete this form. We will preprint your badge to expedite your check-in!  Sign up here   As a reminder, class parties are for parents, grandparents, and students. Please make plans for little ones, since there will be no child care provided for this party. Thank you!

HOMEWORK
Planners are completed daily.  Please check and initial your child’s planner nightly.

Students are required to read for a minimum of 20 minutes per night and record a quick response on their reading logs. Signed logs are DUE every Wednesday. Book Bucks are earned with every 100 minutes read. Students can “purchase” books from our “Book Buck Libraries” with 10 book bucks.

Nightly reading is crucial to your child's overall reading success. Reading should be an interactive process, so please remember to initial or sign your child's log before turning it in on Wednesday.

Students should practice math skills 10 minutes nightly.  This could be anything from Education Galaxy, to flashcards or even a series of problems written by a parent.

Each FRIDAY students will receive spelling lists and work. Practice spelling the words correctly and complete the homework packet due each THURSDAY. Spelling Tests will be administered on Fridays.
