Spring Has Sprung!

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to Ivor for being our marvelous MVP of the week! We enjoyed learning more about our special classmate when he shared his banner with us.

I hope you all had a chance to stop by the Multicultural Fair on Friday. I enjoyed hearing about all the different cultures we have right here in our classroom. We learned about yummy foods, clothing, and interesting ancestors.

On Wednesday, March 13th, third grade students will go on an art field trip to the Blanton and Umlauf art galleries. Please wear any CCE t-shirt, and send a labeled sack lunch, disposable drink, and snacks for your child.  We plan to leave CCE around 9:15 and will be visiting the Blanton first. Thank you to those who have volunteered to be chaperones on this fun field trip.

Enjoying your children,
Mrs. McDonald

Character Trait for March: HARDWORKING

EDUCATION GO GET IT WEEK!

Tuesday: Wear higher education gear (t-shirt representing college, military, academy, training program, etc) because "I've got SO many choices for Higher-Ed!"
Wednesday: Dress up in fancy interview clothes (think school picture day!) because "To get my dream job, I've got to show off my interview skills!"
Thursday: Wear an outfit representing what you want to be when you grow up
Friday: Wear sunglasses because "My future's so bright, I have to wear shades!"

2019 CCE ECONOMICS FAIR
Third grade students are learning about the Free Enterprise System, financial responsibility and philanthropy.  Students brought home a flier with details regarding this unit and responsibilities in their Tuesday’ folder.

Remember, a prototype and budget is due by March 11th and the remainder of the items are due March 26th.  The students are working cooperatively in "companies"  to create advertisements, slogans, and commercials. The prototypes brought in are being shown in the commercials. Thank you so much for all your help and support with this project!  We know you will enjoy coming to the CCE Economic Expo on March 28th at 2:55 p.m.

An additional component of our Economic Expo is a bake sale.  Please use the sign up genius to volunteer to make a baked good(s). The income from the bake sale provides additional funds for our charity Austin Pets Alive.  We appreciate each families contributions. It is so important that they see community working together to solve problems!.

GIRL SCOUTS
Pay It Forward started March 4 and we need your to help donate to the Rainbow Room Round-Up! The Rainbow Room is a non-profit organization that provides supplies to children in foster care. Girl Scout Troop 2523 is teaming up with the PTA to collect new items like sheets, blankets, toiletries and diapers to pay it Forward to the Rainbow Room and the children in Child Protective Services. Pay It Forward runs until March 15.

STAAR READY RESULTS
Results will be in this week’s Tuesday Folder!  I was very pleased with the results. Pre-testing at midyear provides so much information to prepare students for success in May!

HOMEWORK
Planners are completed daily.  Please check and initial your child’s planner nightly.

Students are required to read for a minimum of 20 minutes per night and record a quick response on their reading logs. Signed logs are DUE every Wednesday. Book Bucks are earned with every 100 minutes read. Students can “purchase” books from our “Book Buck Libraries” with 10 book bucks.

Nightly reading is crucial to your child's overall reading success. Reading should be an interactive process, so please remember to initial or sign your child's log before turning it in on Wednesday.

Students should practice math skills 10 minutes nightly.  This could be anything from Education Galaxy, to flashcards, or even a series of problems written by a parent.

Each FRIDAY students will receive spelling lists and work. Practice spelling the words correctly and complete the homework packet due each THURSDAY. Spelling Tests will be administered on Fridays.
